Information About Donations
Alternatives to Violence is a 501 (c) (3) organization. All donations are tax deductible. All donations are considered gifts and are nonrefundable. Your contribution is tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law.
Alternatives to Violence (ATV) will never sell, trade or rent your personal or contact information to other individuals or companies. The information that you provide is used only to complete your donation.
Donate through your IRA
Did you know that you can transfer your IRA funds directly to Alternatives to Violence without any tax consequences? Donations made directly to a charity still qualify as a charitable donation but will not affect your income. Sound too good to be true? Consult your tax professional for all the details and see if you qualify. Here are a few of the details:
- Taxpayers must be 70½ and required to take annual distributions from their IRA
- There is a cap of $100,000
- The charitable contribution must go directly to the charity
- You cannot receive any goods or services in return and you must have a written receipt
Donate to the Endowment Fund
ATV has set up an endowment fund with Community Foundation of Northern Colorado for the operations of the SafeHouse. The Community Foundation of Northern Colorado is a nonprofit, public charity established in 1975 by local community leaders.
Our current goal is $250,000 in our endowment to help support and operate the ATV SafeHouse opened in 2016. If you wish to donate to the endowment please make a note of it on your check or send an email to financemgr@alternativestoviolence.org.
