SHARP Self Defense
Self-defense training is an important element of crime prevention, particularly for women and adolescent girls. The Loveland Police Department in conjunction with Alternatives To Violence provides a low-cost, basic defensive tactics course designed to help women manage and cope with issues and situations they may face.
The course covers:
- Prevention Psychology
- Managing Professional Flirtatious Contact
- Sexual Assault Countermeasures
The course is taught by female police officers and civilian instructors. Participants learn both physical and non-physical skills. The physical instruction includes simple tactics that are easy to perform even for individuals with minimal strength.
